In addition to the staff members who are introduced on this page, other members of the CDR Fundraising Group staff work on Nonprofit Consulting projects as needed. We also have a cadre of outside professional associates who work on projects with us, when their special skills are appropriate.

Dr.
Joel S. Zimmerman is the Director of Consulting Services
for CDR Fundraising Group. Dr. Zimmerman’s
credentials include a PhD from Northwestern University,
an MS from Purdue, and an MA from the Fielding Institute.
Zimmerman’s professional activities have included
social science research, management and marketing consulting,
information systems development, college teaching, and
seminar presentations.
Throughout
his career, Dr. Zimmerman has facilitated numerous team
building and strategic planning sessions in both for-profit
and nonprofit organizations. He has authored many
articles in both the social sciences and technology
areas, including a book titled “Management Walkabout:
Discovering Your Organization’s Strategic Readiness.”
Nonprofit Consulting projects are performed by Joel, other members of the CDR Fundraising Group staff, and additional consultant associates as needed.

Nancy Withbroe (CFRE) is Manager of Consulting Services for Nonprofit Consulting. Ms. Withbroe has served nonprofit organizations for more than 17 years, specializing in strategic fundraising assessments, planning and implementation; corporate and foundation grant seeking; major gift development; and capital campaign planning studies and management. Prior to joining CDR Fundraising Group, Ms. Withbroe operated her own consulting firm, Withbroe Development Consulting, which helped national and community-based nonprofits strengthen their capacity through fundraising, raising over $9 million dollars from diverse sources. Ms. Withbroe has a B.A. in English from Carleton College and a M.A. in Educational Leadership from American University.
Ms. Withbroe is an active participant in the fundraising community. She is currently President of the Association of Fundraising Professionals, Washington DC Metro Area Chapter (AFP/DC), the third largest AFP Chapter in the world. She served for two years as Co-Chair of AFP/DC’s Bridge to Integrated Marketing and Fundraising Conference, co-hosted with the Direct Marketing Association of Washington. Ms. Withbroe has presented at events hosted by AFP/DC, the National Catholic Development Conference and the U.S. Department of Defense, among others.
As a Nonprofit Consulting associate, Ms. Withbroe is providing management, fundraising and marketing consulting to nonprofit groups. Her specialty is helping nonprofits increase their revenues from major donors, foundations, corporations and planned-giving campaigns.

With more than 10 years experience in fine art and graphic design, Ms. Andrea Apshago is the co-art director for CDR Fundraising Group. She has worked on 20+ nonprofit accounts designing direct-mail fundraising packages, collateral materials, and integrated, cross-channel marketing materials. Her fine-art background includes work in lithography, figure study, watercolor and illustration. She has a BA in art and public relations from University of Maryland, and she is active in the DMAW and DMA Nonprofit Federation.
Ms. Apshago is CDR Fundraising Group’s lead resource for visual recording. She has assisted group graphical facilitation as a visual recorder at sessions with purposes such as appreciative inquiry, World Café, Open-Space forum, leadership development and strategic planning.
